  2. I watched this video the other night, and was suprised about the little section on the microphone. The MXL-990) I know that it requires a 48 V phantom power supply, but am curious how I could make it work with a Yaesu FT-857d. I have my hands on a mike I picked up for $50.00 new in the box. I have seen others talk about having to use a preamp and am now curious after seeing yours.

  3. You will need to use something to provide the 48 volts to the mic. This can be a phantom power supply, or a small mixer that has phantom power like the Behringer 802.
